“This has been a really exciting project to oversee,” says Christopher Graf, managing director of HYBRID Software GmbH. “Being at the forefront in the development of software for the graphic arts market we wanted to build a site that provides a level of varied information which is accessible in an easy-to-use way that is not often encountered.

“The fully responsive site can be accessed from any mobile device such as an iPad or smart phone, with displayed information and images adapting automatically to the screen and platform being used. All of the data is available in its entirety in ten languages – English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Czech, Portuguese, Chinese and Russian – and these will be added to as time goes on. It’s a truly multi-language facility.”

HYBRID Software has created an extensive series of short videos to demonstrate the different features within PACKZ, which has established itself as a leading professional PDF editor for packaging and label workflows. The native PDF software, which runs on Mac OS X and Windows platforms and provides 64-bit multi-processing and multi-threading facilities, eliminates the need for file conversions or proprietary file formats. Today, there are more than 1,200 PACKZ licences in use around the world.

“The videos are very informative and easy to follow and have been designed to give the feel of a live demonstration,” says Christopher Graf. “For instance, if someone wants to learn more about the 3D warping facility they can read the technical specification and then watch those features actually being used. “In addition, the screen shots have been designed with a degree of detail rarely seen on a website so, for example, trapping, barcodes and text can be increased in size to reveal the smallest points that an operator might be interested in examining. Potential customers can visit the site and come away with a solid understanding of what PACKZ can do for their business.”

The new website has a wide range of clickable links to social media outlets and enables users to easily download free software, such as the PACKZVIEW app for previewing and inspecting production PDF files. Product brochures can be readily downloaded, while company, technical and support information is all clearly displayed, as well as the latest news on software developments and corporate announcements.

During drupa, many of our visitors picked up a memory stick with the initial version of our PACKZVIEW software. Now we have released a new version of our free app, that features instant preview of complex PDF files, including multipage documents, and it displays transparency and overprints in the same colors that will be printed on press, a big advantage over other ‘free’ PDF viewers. The software is also available to non PACKZ users and can easily be installed by, for example, designers and print buyers who wish to view files from their printer more accurately than other tools allow.

This has been placed by Shanxi Yuncheng Plate Making Group, the world’s leading manufacturer of gravure cylinders, employing around 10,000 people at 75 productions sites, many of which are in China.

“Over the last eighteen months I’ve personally met Shanxi Yuncheng’s president and owner, Mr. Liu, several times to ensure that we understand in minute detail what his company needs in order to achieve the improvements they want,” says Guido Van der Schueren. “About a year ago we installed a ‘concept software solution’ at one of the company’s sites in China and we followed this with a call every week to check progress, answer queries and listen to feedback. This was quite an investment from both sides and it reflects our commitment to providing the right solution. By replacing its previous ArtPro software with PACKZ, Bromberger has eliminated the need for file conversions. The integration of CLOUDFLOW enables the retrieval of job data from its ERP/MIS system, which can then be used by the PACKZ operator to complete information panels and execute automatic step-and-repeat functions.
“We produce a wide range of packaging, advertising material and display work, all from cartonboard, and jobs often have to be turned around within a very short timescale,” says Christof Bromberger. “This means we need to be highly efficient at every stage of production and the workflow is crucial to achieving this. With our newly acquired efficiency in the prepress department we are able to produce work much more quickly and provide an even better service to customers.”

The state-of-the-art facilities at Bromberger Packungen’s site in the Black Forest include high quality sheet-fed printing, laminating, die-cutting, embossing and gluing. The pre-press/CAD department also provides a comprehensive service to customers, which are spread throughout Germany.
